tackling homelessness & poverty in the Humber region

Westbourne House, the new home for Humbercare's 'Futures Assessment Centre', opens its doors in Hull.

[21 August 2015]
Turning round sometimes chaotic lives is never an easy task. The solution to homelessness is rarely as easy as giving someone a house, a bed, and food - but usually involves working through a person's complex and multiple needs.

In this open and honest interview, Mandy - resident at Humbercare's new hostel on Westbourne Avenue Hull - offers a glimpse into the range of support provided by the Futures Assessment Centre. It's the patience, skills, and non-judgemental understanding of the staff - as well as the developing willingness of the service-users - that leads to positive outcomes.

The work that Humbercare delivers, often under very difficult circumstances, gives hope. Sometimes hope is all a person has.
I'll tell you where I'd be - even one day not here - I'd be doing silly things.
Mandy
I've got a bigger dream than you might think. One day, people might get to see that dream.
